We'll share some amazing geological facts about the lake, it's history and current state. The expansive wilderness and drive to the Salt Flats is simply incredible. While the drive is quite far to the Salt Flats from Salt Lake City, we stop a couple times to help break it up. We drive by the southern edge of the Great Salt Lake and stop at the Visitors Center. We stop at the Tree of Life Sculpture and at 2 different points at the Flats themselves *The Salt Flats dry in the summer and typically wet in the winter. When wet, it's often calm, sending mirror like reflections of the mountains in the background. If it's wet we'll bring our gum boots and walk out into the flats. The photo opportunities and Views are endless! Walk: Easy + Flat, 1 mile out and back.
